Granada and Valencia Travel Photography Spain

09th April 2015
At the end of March I was lucky enough to travel to Granada in Spain for a family wedding. I decided to extend the trip to allow me some time to photograph the local area and to also travel up to the city of Valencia.

On the first morning I dragged myself out of bed at 6am to head to a viewpoint overlooking the city. About half an hour after arriving the sun starting to break through and the sky turned a beautiful orange colour. Not a bad start to the trip!

The most famous landmark in Granada is of course the Alhambra Palace. Whilst there are some good shots to be had inside the palace, I knew the best view was going to be from the Mirador de San Nicholas. I arrived a little later then I probably should've and it was already bustling with locals and tourists. With a bit of patience I was able to get set up in a good spot to shoot the palace as the light fell.

After my few days in Granada I was on the road to Valencia. My main focus in Valencia was the City of Arts and Sciences complex. My heart sank a little when I arrived to see the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía opera house covered in scaffolding for restoration work. Photographing it was just not possible so my attention shifted to the Hemisfèric and Museo de las Ciencias Principe Felipe buildings instead.

To wrap up the trip I focused on Valencia's cathedral. I photographed the interior and the views from the top of tower, returning later in the evening to the Placa de la Seu to grab few images of the illuminated exterior.
